Cellar Waterproofing

img-cellar_waterproofing-1Basement Living are Experts in Cellar Waterproofing

This is carried out using a dry lining systems, or as they are more commonly known a CDM system. The difference with these is that they actually allow for water to enter in behind the membrane. A covering is applied to masonry usually but this is not always necessarily the case. It is applied below ground and is used to prevent dampness or water entering although it can also be used to control dampness too.

Cellar waterproofing can actually be carried out from the inside or the outside but usually it is applied to the inside because access to the outside is not always the most practical and usually is simply impossible. This is simply a rough overview and every cellar waterproofing project is unique, each site has its own conditions and specific requirements. Therefore most importantly ensure that you get help and expert advice before you commence.

Due to each cellar being unique and having different conditions, the type of waterproofing that is used is usually decided after the conditions have been taken into account. But also the specific use that the cellar will have is taken into account to ensure that the best solution is supplied. Both basement tanking and CMD systems can be used to deal with dampness and entering water but each system results in different effects according to the structure it is implemented in and this is where it becomes important because in some cases only one type of system will prove to be suitable.

This water that enters is then directed to sumps pumps or active draining systems. It is important to realise however that this water needs to drain off somewhere, so any cellar waterproofing system that does not incorporate a sump pump or active draining system is at increased risk of flooding as no membrane system can actually be expected to be able to hold back water when it enters behind.

As always it is very important that when carrying out cellar waterproofing that you consult a qualified person with experience in this field as mentioned before otherwise it could prove costly and leave devastating results behind so make sure that you contact us if your considering cellar waterproofing and we can assist you in making the right, cost effective and safe decisions in regards to the method that you use.
